Excellent setting. Plenty of seating and a great drink selection. Service was good and the staff had some top notch recommendations. The chicken sandwich was perfect paired with the ahi tuna side. I would recommend a stop here for dinner or lunch.

Named after a canyon that is 6 miles west of downtown Yakima, Washington, Cowiche Canyon Kitchen + Icehouse is one of Yakima‘s most popular restaurants. When I visited on 10/9/24, even though it was a Tuesday night, the place was packed. I waited about 30 minutes for a table. I ordered the Prawn and Avocado Salad, which is one of their most popular menu items.
PRAWN AND AVOCADO SALAD ($19)
Grilled prawns, avocado, corn, black beans, queso fresco, jicama, lettuce, cilantro, mexican green goddess dressing, served with our tortilla chips
The salad was good, but not as remarkable as I expected, given the reviews. It would be easy to duplicate at home. I wouldn’t go out of my way to order it again. I look forward to returning and trying some of their other popular menu items, including the Tortilla Soup and the Prime Rib Dip.
The service was very good. I liked the design of the building, but because of the high ceilings and all of the hard surfaces, it is VERY noisy.
Recommended!

The food was fresh, flavorful, texturally interesting and visually appealing, I quite enjoyed my meal, even if the thin cut fries didn't really seem all that hot/fresh to me (the dipping sauces redeemed them). The service was exceptional and the venue is bold and beautiful, open/spacious and jovial/on the louder end.

On route to Nevada, my bff and I stopped here as the reviews online were great. It didn't disappoint. The building is gorgeous, the staff were all very friendly. We got our delicious drinks, salads and fries in a timely manner and all tasted wonderful. If we are ever going this way again.. we will stop.

Felt very impressed for this up scale spot in Yakima. Came in a few weeks ago based on the recommendation of locals and was very satisfied with a well-cooked burger and shoestring fries. The burger was cooked to order and had fresh and bright flavors complimented with the char grilled taste of beef. The shoestring fries were strangely addicting, but we were offered free fry refills, so it wasn’t a problem.
I’d definitely make it a priority to go again the next time I’m in Yakima. It is a bit pricy, but I think it’s completely worth it based on the quality of food that you’re getting.
