I was pleasantly surprised that the food surpassed my expectations. We were visiting friends and our party of 8 went out to eat lunch here. I ordered the French Dip and I can positively say it was the best one I have ever had. It was piled high with meat and the bread was different in the best way possible. It was toasted and had a hint of rosemary. I had a side salad and it was very fresh. The sandwich was so big, I took half of it home and I can’t wait to finish the other half. My husband ordered the Cowboy Brisket sandwich with tots and it was satisfying and very filling. My daughter had a BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger with the fries. The burger was huge and loaded with different flavors. The fries were also some of the best we have had. My sister ordered a chicken sandwich and enjoyed it. Everyone was pleased with their selections. All the portions were big and filling so my recommendation is to split an order.
The service we received was excellent. The gals who served us were extremely friendly.

Second time now where we come on a very busy Desert Aire weekend (Memorial and Hot Desert Nights) and we walk to the bar for late night fun and they are closed. We had A LOT of people excited to see what R Place was all about. We get there around 9:30-10pm and lights are off. We were gong to make the bar a lot of money both weekends. Such a bummer - this place used to be so much fun and a big part of our weekends in DA. Bring back the live bands, DJ's, and Karaoke...especially on those busier weekends and PROMOTE it!

The food is fresh and high quality. The place was spotless. Service was warm and friendly. The woman who owns this knows how to run an operation. I just love when places know who they are and just do that. Not trying to be anything other than what they are. R Place offers the best quality and services
they can at their price point. What gem. Would love a local joint like this where I live. I can’t imagine there’s anything close to as good in the area.

Would not let my 82 year old mom in the place because her driver license was expired. When I explained she needed to use the restroom, the restaurant manager (younger lady) yelled at me when I kept asking and told me it was the law, and she could not let my mom because her license was expired. An 82 year old woman with a walking device is about to pee on herself, really!. Thank goodness we were able to go into another place close by. Terrible service and terrible person managing.

The R Place Tavern is a must-stop if you are in the Mattawa area or passing by. They have a big outdoor patio for outdoor dining and a great old fashioned dive bar inside (never skip a good dive bar). The food is top notch! You must try the French dip sandwich, and the burgers are big. They have great beers on tap, and an amazing wine selection, esiconsidering that this is right in the middle of wine country. We come for food as well as stocking up on local wines by the bottle. Don't miss this place.
